Common Questions

Common Questions

  • How often will I have to come?

Every patient is different, just like every injury or complaint is different. Dr. Matt and Danielle will give you a one-on-one report on your first visit where they will explain what is going on, what your treatment options are and what they recommend for treatment. We believe very strongly in transparency when it comes to health care and we want you to have as much information as we can give to you about how we can help and what your options are.

  • What is that cracking noise? Will you crack my neck?

The cracking noise (or cavitation as it is technically known) is a very simple process that happens naturally in the joints of the body. Small amounts of gas are dissolved in the fluid between our joints and when Dr. Matt adjusts a joint the gas is sometimes released and this release creates a popping or cracking sound. This is the same noise that happens when you crack your knuckles and is completely safe, and natural.

Many patients find relief with neck pain with manual neck adjustments, but Dr. Matt understands that you may not be as comfortable with this for a variety of reasons which is why he has a number of techniques to work with neck pain that don’t involve manual neck adjustments. He would be happy to discuss this with you.

  • Is physiotherapy just going to be exercises?

Danielle believes in using an approach to treatment that focuses on manual therapy (muscle and joint work etc) as well as using exercise. You will have a completely one on one treatment that will use a variety of treatment options depending on your condition!

  • Will I have to attend a group info session to review my chiropractic results before treatment?

Absolutely not. Dr. Matt only reviews your treatment options and results with you one-on-one, and this will be the same day as your initial assessment.

  • Will I be expected to pay for treatments upfront or be given a package of treatment?

Appointments are paid for on the day of treatment, and you will be issued a receipt that can be submitted to extended health benefit insurers if you are fortunate enough to have benefits. We can also direct bill to many insurance companies. We believe that no one will know how you will feel in 1 month or a year from now so there’s nothing to be gained in long package treatment options.

  • I’m seeing a physiotherapist, can I also see you?

Absolutely! Health care should be collaborative and Dr. Matt is more than happy to work with your physiotherapist to get you feeling better faster. In fact, our in house physio Danielle can help too! Whether it is for a single issue or a different issue entirely he is happy to help. Dr. Matt also has a network of health professionals he trusts and has worked closely with in the past and would be happy to discuss these options with you.

  • I’m hurt, who should I see? You, a physio or a massage therapist?

Like all people we meet in life, there will be people we are comfortable with and other people we will be less comfortable with. We want you to be comfortable and believe that your choice in health care provider should reflect that. Massage therapy can be very effective for muscle conditions, physiotherapy can be very good for injury rehabilitation and motor patterning, and chiropractic is very good at dealing with issues related to the spine, nervous system and muscle systems when you are in pain. There is no one particular therapy that will be perfect for everyone and that is the truth! Call, email or discuss with anyone you are interested in seeking help with and if you don’t like what they have to say find someone else. We are always available to answer any questions you may have.

  • Does your office make me sign a contract for care?

    Absolutely not.

Treatment is always up to you, the patient, and you will never be held to any expectations or contract, or asked to sign one.
